I finally got back to SLC after all the traveling and wedding shenanigans. I’ve got a lot of catching up to do fitness wise (I spent the last 3 weeks eating and drinking wine) so I set out on the bike at 6am on Friday. I threw on my lycra and decided to hit Wasatch BLVD for an easy 1hr ride.

It hurt, really badly. I felt like I was dragging a couple of cinder blocks behind my bike. My speed was dismal, my HR was out of control, and overall I felt terrible. Luckily, I have a lot of motivation to get back in shape and fast. I’m signing up for the ULCER this week.
Some stats:
Time: 1:03:54
Distance: 17.56 miles
Avg HR: 144
Max HR: 183
Altitude: 600 feet.
Some gear I used:
I lost my Garmin and didn’t rock anything new on this ride, just that sweet Reebok heart rate monitor from woot.com
Rode the Flying Dog trail in Park City with Hollywood today. We rode the trail the opposite direction we normally do, and wow, it was awesome. It helped that it was a perfect day, sunny, 70ish degrees and it rained recently so the trail was packed down and tacky.
White bibs from Realcyclist.com. Real men aren’t afraid to wear white spandex.
I make that face on Sunday mornings too.

Taking pictures of taking pictures.

The valley below. You climb about 2,000 ft over the 16 mile ride.

I had been meaning to post this sooner, but I’ve been super busy getting at work and getting ready for the wedding. Anyway, here it is now, rock.
So on two Wednesdays ago an email went out from HR to the entire company. They needed someone to fill in on a Wasatch Back Relay team. I had heard of the race, and since I do a number of endurance mountain bike races, I figured, why not? This was intelligent of me as I had not run since March, when I ran 4 miles. It turned out that the leg I volunteered to run was 18.4 miles, and involved some of the harder running in the relay. This was one of those “why not” considerations. But I didn’t want to let everyone down, so I made it happen.
I ended up running my 18.4 miles in just under 3 hours, about a 10 minute mile. On Saturday I couldn’t walk. On Sunday I was doing a crab walk. Needless to say, it was worth every minute.
Enough of me, here’s the pics:
Joel and I take this running stuff very seriously. I only did the first leg in the outfit.

We managed to do some last-minute decorations to our rental “van”. We do love Klossner, also, hide your daughters…

Here’s why we love Klossner: He kills it!
